Deer Cove Trail

Cedar Grove, California

Deer Cove Trail Professional Review and Guide

"The nearly forgotten Deer Cove Trail within Monarch Wilderness offers hikers an opportunity to escape the crowds in the neighboring park on a relatively short ascent to a vantage point offering pleasant views of Monarch Divide and Kings Canyon. The low elevation and south-facing hillsides combine to make this a good early or late season trip. Summer hikers will have to get a very early start to beat the heat. Although a network of trails penetrates deep into the Monarch Wilderness beyond, they receive very little maintenance and may be difficult to follow."
