Snively’s Ridge Trail

Snively’s Ridge Trail Professional Review and Guide

"Garland Ranch Regional Park stretches from the willow-lined Carmel River to the crest of the Santa Lucia Range. The 3,464- acre park lies along the northern tip of the range. Over 50 miles of trails offer many options for hiking. The multi-use trails criss- cross through the beautiful area, from the Carmel River valley to the highest point of the park along the 2,000-foot summit of Snively’s Ridge. This hike begins from the northern park entrance off of Holt Road and follows Snively’s Ridge, the 1 ,600-foot mountain crest on the northernmost wall of the Santa Lucia Range. The ridge forms the southwest rim of Carmel Valley and offers breathtak- ing panoramas across the Ventana Wilderness and Carmel Valley. The views extend all the way to Monterey Bay and the peninsula. Snively’s Ridge Trail follows the open grassy ridge along an open space easement at the northwest end of the park. The scenic trail is a steady climb at a moderate grade along the contours of the slope. The trail winds up to overlooks of Garland Ranch and its mosaic of trails."
