Twin Lakes and Fish Lake

Callahan, California

Twin Lakes and Fish Lake Professional Review and Guide

"The hike: Twin Lakes and Fish Lake are shallow little ponds that sit in an isolated drainage northwest of Deadman Peak. Neither big, nor deep, nor very well known, the lakes don’t attract much attention, which makes them eminently suitable for a quiet picnic or overnight if you’re looking to avoid the more popular destinations nearby. Like the other drainages on the north side of the Scott Mountain divide, however, this one is subject to cattle grazing in the summer. Highlights: A short hike to a tranquil pond that stretches the definition of lake."
