Of all the high places with a drop-dead view of the inner Trinity Alps, the jagged crest at the east end of Sawtooth Ridge may just be my favorite. Just 6.5 miles from Big Flat Trailhead, you top out on a 7,200-foot saddle, stroll a few hundred yards through a beautiful meadow, and take a seat among the teeth of Sawtooth Ridge. At your feet are Sapphire and Emerald Lakes, as well as the entire Stuart Fork drainage, Sawtooth Mountain, and Thompson Peak. Just watch your footing, or you really will drop dead. Highlights: This hike puts you right in the teeth of Sawtooth Ridge.
