South Fork Lakes Professional Review and Guide

"Despite the short distance to South Fork Lakes, an extremely steep section of trail makes it feel like you’re really going somewhere. And thanks to the beauty of the large, rugged basin, you really are. The cirque serves up an equal mix of shady woods; emerald, grass-fringed shoreline; and rocky, imposing cliffs. Good views of the South Fork Scott River drainage can be seen from the east side of the lower lake. Highlights: A short but steep hike to a beautiful, secluded cirque with two pleasant lakes and plenty of off-trail opportunities."
