The almost mile-long trip to Hidden Lake is an excellent choice for young children or beginner backpackers, and the lake is far enough away from population centers to protect it from the use a lake of this caliber would normally receive. You should be able to find a decent campsite, take a dip, drop a line, and generally have a good time without having to battle the masses. Although not as dramatic as many of the Trinity Alps lakes, Hidden Lake is a nice spot to enjoy a couple hours, or even days. The trail dead ends at the lake, but the truly adventurous will find the peaks above the lake to be sufficiently challenging.
