Robert Louis Stevenson Memorial State Park / The Peaks

Robert Louis Stevenson Memorial State Park / The Peaks Professional Review and Guide

"Robert Louis Stevenson State Park is really more like an open space. There's no park headquarters, no rangers, and no services. It is a beautiful spot located about halfway up Mount St. Helena, overlooking the Napa Valley. Although the park encompasses over 1,000 acres, the Peaks route is the only developed multi-use trail. But it's a fun one - semi-steep climbs followed by fast descents with some awesome views along the way. The trail winds its way up and between Mt. St. Helena's North and South Peaks, both of which offer far reaching views from San Francisco to Mount Shasta."

I was driving by so I decided to try this trail. The scenery is pretty, but don't expect any singletrack. This is an dirt/gravel fire road. It is mostly uphill, but, of course, the return trip is an easy downhill run.The views from the top overlooking Napa Valley are worth the ride.
