Pioneer Cemetery Trail

Pioneer Cemetery Trail Professional Guide

Detailed Trail Description from our Guidebook

"This route follows the course of an old wagon road through a quiet forest to a pioneer cemetery and then continues to a secluded section of Lake Britton’s shoreline. The cemetery has several historical headstones bearing the names of early pioneers who helped settle the region in the 1800s. Those who continue down the road to Cemetery Cove on Lake Britton may be fortunate to witness a bald eagle soaring above the tops of the Douglas firs.

The wide track of the old wagon road heads east on a gentle grade through a forest of incense cedars, pines, and oaks. After 0.3 mile, the road veers north and continues for another 0.3 mile before turning west and descending moderately through thickening forest. Reach the fenced cemetery, where a number of headstones occupy the site and clumps of lilac grace the air with their pleasant fragrance in spring."
