"The scenic hike through Leavitt Meadow forms a tour through
different regional in?uences, including desert terrain, high mountains, and the volcanism of the Central Sierra. Highlights include three pretty lakes and the beautiful Walker River meandering through the large meadow. Leavitt Meadow is a natural masterpiece that quietly invites hikers to explore the many treasures that can be found in the land of contrasts it occupies.

The large, lush meadow lies at the meeting place of the volcanic Central Sierra, the icy heights of the High Sierra,
and the arid expanse of the Great Basin. It beautifully exhibits features of all three regions. The sagebrush hills contrast against the lush meadow, while the pyroclastic peaks contrast against stark granite towers. The tranquility of the hidden lakes makes the swift Walker River all the more vibrant."
