Cougar Canyon Trail

Cougar Canyon Trail Professional Guide

Detailed Trail Description from our Guidebook

"This canyon journey is a delightful surprise, not only because of the lengthy hike just to get here, but also because the area’s wonders are hidden from view even when you finally arrive at the canyon mouth. Have faith, and keep on hiking. After Collins Valley and the dry lower reaches of Indian Canyon, the turnoff to Cougar Canyon seems like just another arid desert valley. Then, as you round the bend in the lower reaches of the canyon, your ears may detect the tinkling of a waterfall. Your eyes will be astounded with the lush riparian area. Sandy beaches and inviting pools dot the watercourse down the canyon, all reached by a labyrinth of trails that wind around boulders. Sycamores and palm trees are scattered along the stream bank above rock-lined grottos. Plan on taking time to explore and enjoy this rare water wonderland before your return trip."
