Doran Beach Professional Guide
Detailed Trail Description from our Guidebook
"This is a sheltered and powerful beach break south of Bodega Bay. Doran Beach is located within a sheltered cove just south of Bodega Bay. The beach here is clean, large, and beautiful. And if the weather’s nice, the weekend can attract a lot of people.
Luckily, very few of them come here to surf. You’ll find that the majority of visitors are here to beat the inland heat and picnic, build sand castles, or simply lie around and watch the ocean. This spot is well protected from northwest wind, which can result in picture-perfect glassy surf. However, it’s also unable to capture large northwest swell, which makes it more of a spring and summer spot. The wave shape here can be stellar with the right conditions, and the waves can be fast and tubing; it’s a good spot to surf when the waves are closing out everywhere else in the area."
