A little-used trail provides a short but steep route to a group of delightful lakes set in a high granite basin well east of the Sierra Crest. The 3-mile journey to the upper lake is well suited for either a dayhike, complete with a refreshing swim and a picnic lunch, or an overnight backpack. Anglers should find plenty of brook trout in all of the Tyee Lakes. The nearly mile-long, 600-foot climb from Clara Lake to the view from the plateau atop Table Mountain is certainly worth the extra effort.
