"Red Wall Canyon deserves its name. After crossing the open desert floor of Death Valley, this hike takes you into a rugged, brightly colored canyon in the Grapevine Mountains. Its treasures include dramatic red cliff narrows, polished rock, and magnificent dry falls. Although advanced rock-climbing skills are needed to climb a dry waterfall 0.5 mile up the canyon, this hike provides delightful vistas in the lower canyon region for the casual hiker. A challenging optional route bypasses the dry fall. The approach to the canyon via the alluvial fan is not particularly challenging, but it is certainly not easy!" Read more
