Viewed from Hungry Packer Lake, Picture Peak is one of the most beautiful peaks in the Sierra, and obviously well named. Norman Clyde made the first ascent of this peak in 1931 up the broken southwest face. Two years later, Clyde returned with a Sierra Club party that included Jules Eichorn and Ted Waller and climbed the Clyde Spires at the head of the cirque to the south.
