Mount Darwin: North Glacier Professional Review and Guide
"The massive hulk of Mt. Darwin and neighboring Mt. Mendel dominate the view of the Evolution group from the west and the view from Lamarck Col to the east. There is no easy way to the high point of Mt. Darwin, which is a small, detached spire to the east of the broad summit plateau. As with the other peaks of the Evolution region, Mt. Darwin was named by Theodore Solomons during his explorations for what was to become the John Muir Trail. E.C. Andrews and Willard Johnson of the USGS made the first recorded ascent of the peak in 1908 for surveying purposes."
