Lake Italy Trail

Lake Italy Trail Professional Guide

Detailed Trail Description from our Guidebook

"Adventure and beautiful scenery await all who make this difficult trek from the Pine Creek Trailhead to Lake Italy. The adventure comes while navigating the frequently traveled but only vaguely marked route from Honeymoon Lake up and over the granite-strewn slopes of Italy Pass to Lake Italy. Beautiful scenery surrounds you from start to finish, varying from knife-edged ridges and thundering waterfalls to exquisite alpine lakes and lush green meadows. This is not a hike for everyone. The well-maintained trail to Honeymoon Lake is rough and very steep. Beyond the lake the trail gradually disappears. In theory, the route is marked by ducks; in reality, the ducks are nearly impossible to follow and you must rely on your instincts and your map. Carry a compass, and wear stout boots in anticipation of encountering snow."
