Redwood Trail to Limekilns Limekiln Creek State Park Professional Review and Guide

"The Limekiln Trail leads to four massive stone and steel kilns used to purify quarried limestone into powdered lime in the 1880s. The lime was used as an ingredient in cement. The Limekiln Trail follows the old wagon route used to haul barrels of lime slacked from the furnaces. The hike follows Limekiln Creek and the West Fork up the canyon through redwoods, sycamores, oaks and maples to the giant limekilns."
