Pfeiffer Beach

Pfeiffer Beach Professional Guide

Detailed Trail Description from our Guidebook

"Pfeiffer Beach is a white sand beach surrounded by towering headland cliffs within the Los Padres National Forest. Pfeiffer Point extends outward at the south end of the beach. Dramatic offshore sea stacks have been sculpted by the wind and pounding surf, creating sea caves, eroded natural arches, and blowholes. On the secluded beach, Sycamore Creek forms a small lagoon as it empties into the Pacific. This is a beach-combing walk along the shoreline. Leashed dogs are allowed."

"This hike leads to one of the region’s most striking beaches. In spring the coastal bluffs boast a colorful tapestry of wildflowers, including California poppies, sticky monkeyflowers, yellow sand verbena, Indian paintbrush, and lupines. Foaming surf crashes through dramatic nearshore arches, highlighting the gorgeous sunsets." Read more

"This is an idyllic hike on dog-compatible national forest sand in the heart of an otherwise not-so-dog-friendly stretch of mostly state park land. You can snap a photo of your furry pal enjoying one of the most pristine coastal settings in the country, if not the world." Read more

"The short, sandy trail to the beach is the threshold into a surreal canvas of white sand against a backdrop of wave-sculpted rock arches. This beach’s isolated beauty and firmly packed sand combine to create a unique escape where you and your dog can spend anywhere from an hour to a day walking, picnicking, and savoring your good fortune that you can share this pristine, hidden beach together." This is a very good beach - worth going to - but not the best beach ever. Definitely some interesting aspects, and no longer difficult at all to get to. Maybe the only cool bch in Big Sur.
