Oak Grove Trail

Oak Grove Trail Professional Review and Guide

"The Oak Grove Trail traverses a beautiful, forested hillside through several natural ecosystems in Pfeiffer Big Sur State Park. The plant communities range from dry chaparral to hardwood forests with a mix of oaks and shady redwood groves. The path weaves in and out of numerous gullies, connecting the Pfeiffer Falls Trail (Hike 33) with the Gorge Trail."

Some of the best views I have ever seen. We did the loop, and my GPS said we had hiked just over 16 miles, so I don't think the guide is right (it says 12.7 miles). Took the Pine Ridge Trail to Terrace Creek Camp. Hiked the Terrace Creek Trail to Coast Ridge road (mostly uphill to this point, just over 11 miles) Lots and lots of huge redwood trees up to this point. Once on the road, beautiful vistas of the ocean open up and you can see for miles. Hike down the hill to for about 4.5 miles to the 1, then just a short 1.5 miles back to the ranger station. I loved this hike. I wish i had more time to explore more of the hikes in the area (Sykes Hot Springs and China Camp).
