The Fire Road Trail climbs up a coastal ridge to the Tin House, where there are panoramic views of the ocean and Julia Pfeiffer Burns State Park from an elevation of 1 ,950 feet. This trail is a shorter and slightly easier route up to the Tin House than the Tanbark Trail (Hike 46). The wide trail begins on the coastal cliffs across from Vista Point and heads inland, weaving in and out of gullies to Partington Canyon. The path contours the east wall of the canyon, rich with coastal redwoods, tanbark oaks, and shade-loving plants.
