The Narrows and Papoose Flat Drive

The Narrows and Papoose Flat Drive Professional Guide

Detailed Trail Description from our Guidebook

"This beautiful loop includes an especially appealing mix of very narrow, high-walled canyons leading to a particularly tight gap called The Narrows (you won’t drive through them). It continues to broad Papoose Flat, a lofty (about 8,400’) expanse that has been a food-gathering place for American Indians for thousands of years. It is marked by numerous massive granite outcrops (including one with an arch) that are reminiscent of the Owens Valley’s famous Alabama Hills, with views across the 10,000-foot-deep valley to the Sierra."
