Big Bear Lake Recreation Area: Serrano Professional Guide

Detailed Trail Description from our Guidebook

"Big Bear Lake is a popular summer and winter recreation area, offering hiking, backpacking, water sports, and snow activities. Marinas are located around the lake, offering slips, fuel, bait, and boat rentals. Public launching ramps are located on the north shore. A boat permit is required for the lake and can be obtained at most marinas. Several ski runs and lifts are located in the area.

No public campgrounds are open during the winter, but some private RV parks remain open. Serrano is the only campground in Big Bear Lake Recreation Area that offers direct access to the lake, with swimming and kayak/canoe put-in possible at Meadows Edge Picnic Area. The Pacific Crest Trail passes 1 mile north of the campground. Elevation 7,000 feet. Stay limit fourteen days. Open approximately May through October."
