Tamarack Lakes Trail

Tamarack Lakes Trail Professional Review and Guide

"Grand views of Sierra Buttes, coupled with a pair of charming lakes, make this trip along the Tamarack Lakes Trail well worth the effort. Strong hikers can accept the additional challenge of reaching the lookout atop Sierra Buttes on a 2.5-mile extension from the lakes, The first 2 miles of trail are fully exposed to the hot summer sun, and a reliable source of water is not available until arriving at the lakes.

These potential drawbacks can be minimized by an early start to beat the heat and an extra bottle of water stowed in the pack. Although the Tamarack Lakes are accessible to 4WD vehicles via a different route, chances are good that you won’t see any, as motorized travel to the lakes is generally very light."
