There may not be an easy way to the lookout perched on the knife-edged ridge of Sierra Buttes, but this route is certainly the shortest. The expansive view from the lookout is more than enough reward for the effort required to get there. The trail begins by heading south on the wide track of an old jeep road beyond a closed steel gate. Proceed on a moderately steep climb that winds up the nose of a ridge through scattered timber. Eventually, you leave the road, following signed directions onto a singletrack trail.

Great hike with great views. I live at low elevation, so hiking at elevation made the climb harder, but it was well worth the effort. Was a little scary up on the lookout, but I'm glad i went all the way up.
