    Carrizo Plain/Soda Lake

    Carrizo Plain/Soda Lake Professional Guide

Detailed Trail Description from our Guidebook

"Selby and KCL are on the scenic Carrizo Plain, on the southeast side of Soda Lake, and almost directly on the San Andreas Rift Zone. Summer temperatures reach an average high of 100°F to 115°F. The lake is famous as a major stop on the Pacific Flyway for migratory birds, including large congregations of sandhill cranes.

A profusion of wildflowers carpets the area in the spring, and Painted Rock provides excellent examples of Native-American pictographs. A small visitor center, open May to October, is located on Soda Lake Road, about 1.5 miles south of its junction with CA 58. Stay limit fourteen days. Open all year."
