Mount Baden-Powell Professional Review and Guide
"This high-elevation day hike leads to a windswept, subalpine summit in the northern reaches of the Sheep Mountain Wilderness, where far-ranging vistas unfold. At 7,903 feet, Dawson Saddle provides the second-highest trailhead in the San Gabriel Mountains, affording easy access to the high country. A trail was constructed in the early 1980s that bypasses the old path going over 9,138-foot Throop Peak. This new trail joins the Pacific Crest Trail on the crest of the range and makes the ascent to Mount Baden-Powell much easier and yet less popular than the traditional route starting at Vincent Gap."
