Lone Tree Point on Catalina Professional Guide
Detailed Trail Description from our Guidebook
"Santa Catalina Island, “26 miles across the sea” as the song goes, stretches 21 miles in length and up to 8 miles at its maximum width. The town of Avalon snuggles against a cove near the eastern end of the island, protected from prevailing winds that come out of the west and northwest. Avalon experiences the same almost-frostfree climate as the most even-tempered areas of the Southern California coastline, and it enjoys possibly the cleanest air of any spot near the Southern California coast. In the hills above Avalon you can find wild mountainsides smothered in Catalina’s own unique assemblage of chaparral, spectacular ocean views, and some of the finest hiking in all of California."
