"A short, gradual climb above the Middle Fork of the American River provides more than exercise. Hikers will be treated to panoramic upriver views of the Middle Fork, overlooking placer-mining and quarrying operations as they were left more than 100 years ago. The shaded trailhead is below the parking area on the west side of Old Foresthill Road. To reach it, descend from the parking area to the information kiosk and pit toilet. As you walk down toward the river, imagine cooling your feet at the river’s edge after your hike." Read more
