This trip is truly a wilderness classic, traversing some of the finest, most rugged backcountry ski terrain found anywhere. The approach to Mount Goddard takes the adventuresome backcountry skier over Echo Col, Muir Pass, and rough the unique wilderness of the Ionian Basin, territory seldom visited even in the summer. This trip has so many possibilities that weeks could be spent exploring the many summits, lake basins, and glacial cirques in the area. A descent of Black Giant is a highlight of this trip.
