Wildlife Viewing Loop Professional Review and Guide
"Modoc National Wildlife Refuge, along with other area refuges, is home to one of North America’s most impressive collections of migratory birds. Some 245 species have been sighted here, along with as many as 500 bald eagles at a time. The wildlife-viewing loop skirts the wetlands that are so attractive to waterfowl and raptors. Be on the lookout for tundra swans, sandhill cranes, red-tailed hawks, and other birds. And don’t forget your binoculars. Terrain: Gravel road and trail through open grassland and marsh, with occasional cottonwoods."
