Hayden Hill Trail Professional Guide
Detailed Trail Description from our Guidebook
"Hayden Hill Trail loops into Modoc National Forest, passing near the former gold mining settlement. The uneven, narrow road winds through semi-open forest and meadows, and passes some private property. The trail swings west to join the good, graded road that serves as access to mines around Hayden Hill.
As you approach, the re-vegetated terraces of Hayden Hill stand out clearly to the south. There is no public access to the privately owned mines. In the past, rock hounds have found rhyolite around the old site of Hayden Hill. The trail passes through a state game refuge—no firearms allowed—to finish on California 139, 13 miles south of Adin."
