Overall, I love this place. You get a little bit of everything: You can walk a portion of the Pacific Crest Trail (which goes right through it), you can scramble up the iconic rock formations where all the crowds are or you can head to the rear of the park and hit the numerous trails to be alone or with your small group. It's a very family friendly place and while you are actually right next to a freeway and in a park situated in a small town, you can lose yourself to the point of feeling like your are miles from nowhere. There are hiking and equestrian trails but no off-roading or biking allowed. There's an interpretive center and a mostly flat geology trail at the entrance for those who are less able to climb up hills and large rocks. The park is open from sunrise to sunset and is free. And, it's only an hour away from downtown Los Angeles. What's not to like?
