Both the towns of Custer and Hillcity have trails which offer a great vantage point from which to view the Harney Range, which seems to tower above the rest of the hills. The Willow Creek Loop is an easy simple trail from which to enjoy this. The trail is well marked and dry. It is also quite flat. Locally it is more of a place to walk your dog or enjoy a quick walk than an actual hike. South Dakota has many sunny days (particularily in the Summer and Fall)with which to enjoy its spectacular views. Visitors may find that nearby Hill City provides better services (restraunts, shops etc....) than Custer.
