Boulder Hill Trail Spur Professional Review and Guide

"A short but steep ascent to the top of a high, rocky outcropping, offering dramatic views.

Boulder Hill is one of the special features found along the Flume Trail #50 and makes another nice side trip on the Flume Trail #50 hike - or a good jaunt just for its own sake.

Located south of Spring Creek Loop and the Boulder Hill Trailhead, this short, steep spur-hike is well worth the effort. Upon the reaching the 5,331-foot summit, it is a photographers dream."

This is a good, short scramble to the top of a peak near Hill City. It offers good views of the surrounding peaks and offers a good afternoon scramble after visiting Mount Rushmore or eating at the Alpine in. The trail is well marked and navigable most of the year.
