O’Leary Basin Trail Professional Review and Guide
"This trail travels through the black lava dunes that surround Sunset Crater National Monument but outside of the popular OHV area. If anything, this trail has the most impressive scenery of all those that pass through this unique region, and the trail is infinitely quieter than the busy trails within the OHV area. Special Attractions: Views of Sunset Crater; Trail travels on the black lava dunes of the San Francisco Volcano Field; One of the less traveled trails within this region. High-clearance 4WDs are preferred, but any high-clearance vehicle is acceptable. Expect a rough road surface; mud and sand are possible but will be easily passable. You may encounter rocks up to 6 inches in diameter, a loose road surface, and shelf roads, though these will be wide enough for passing or will have adequate pull-offs."

only one spot would be tricky for a passenger vehicle. I completed the trail in just under 80 minutes. Overall, I wasnt to impressed, but the views were pretty cool.
