Sycamore Rim Trail

Sycamore Rim Trail Professional Review and Guide

"This is a long and enjoyable walk on a scenic trail along the rim of Sycamore and Big Springs Canyons. Part of the trail is within Sycamore Canyon Wilderness.

The Sycamore Rim Trail is not shown on the topographic map. Almost immediately after you leave the parking lot, you’ll cross the route of the historic Overland Road. The old road was built in 1858 as part of a route across northern Arizona from east to west. Long abandoned, the route has recently been retraced by the USDA Forest Service and marked with wood posts, brass caps, and rock cairns. From this trailhead, you can optionally follow the old route either east into Garland Prairie, or west toward Pomeroy Tanks."
