A short, off-trail day hike to a spectacular overlook atop the heights of the Pinacate Lava Flow. At the top, panoramic views are highlighted by the jagged granite peaks of the Sierra Pintas. To the west are the dark and craggy summits of the Tule Mountains and Cabeza Prieta Range. Southward views stretch deep into Mexico, where a welter of volcanic buttes and jagged ranges rise from the tawny sands.
