A hike up dramatic Sabino Canyon and its west fork to Hutch’s Pool, a series of pools that are swimmable when they exist in spring and early summer. Special Considerations: During the hot summer months, plan your hike for early in the morning and carry plenty of water. From Sabino Canyon Visitor Center, take the Sabino Canyon Shuttle 3.6 miles to the last stop in Sabino Canyon. From the last shuttle stop in Sabino Canyon, hike north on the Sabino Canyon Trail, which climbs 0.1 mile to meet the Phoneline Trail. Stay left and follow the Sabino Canyon Trail north along the east side of Sabino Canyon to Sabino Basin.

On the outskirts of Tucson is Sabino Canyon. It offers a tram ride with many stops to the top of the canyon 3.7 miles. Take the tram to the top of the canyon and walk back. Outstanding views, Saguaro cactus, few critters and a stream the whole distance. Take a dip it is great. The walk back to the Desert Center is easy and full of mystery
