This short hike follows an old roadbed that wanders up into the hills above the Rincon Valley. It makes a pleasant sunset stroll. The grade increases to a steady climb as the thorn scrub opens up into a more diverse desert community featuring saguaro, prickly pear, and purple staghorn cholla. Tanque Verde Ridge looms ahead, and fine views to the west and south include Rincon Peak and the Santa Rita Mountains. The road ultimately curls northeast to end at a saddle amid the rounded hills.
