The hills in Oracle State Park’s grassy oak- and mesquite-dotted landscape beckon hikers to take to the trails and enjoy spectacular desert and mountain panoramas. The Mariposa and Arizona Trail segments are two of the very few trails within Oracle State Park on which your leashed dog can accompany you. Be sure to bring bags to pick up dog waste, since burying is inappropriate in this environment and no trash facilities are provided. Your dog will be glad you took her along because the slightly higher elevation and light shade from desert trees means that this trail is a bit cooler on the pads. Bring adequate water, though, since there is rarely water available in the washes for cooling off.
