A backpack to the crest of the Santa Rita Mountains. The trail reaches the ridgeline at a clearing that offers an excellent view of Mount McCleary. Far below, angular rock outcrops guard the floor of Florida Canyon, and these shards of stone are heavily encrusted with greenish lichens. The trail climbs straight up the ridgetop, setting an unrelenting pace in its quest for Florida Saddle. The path ultimately winds onto a second ridgetop, ascending along its crest for a time, then dropping into the draw.
