Sunrise Lake Professional Review and Guide
"The jewel of the White Mountain Apache Reservation, Sunrise is the lake to fly fish for large trout or when you need a pleasant day of float fishing. The lake is easy to get to, easy to put a boat in, and easy to fish. The trout are larger here than on many other waters, so Sunrise is the favorite of most Arizona lake fishers! Sunrise is fairly large at slightly more than 800 acres, depending on runoff.
At the cool elevation of 9,100', it sits at the base of Mounts Ord and Baldy, home of the Sunrise Ski Area. Mountain snowpack feeds the majority of the area’s streams and lakes. The lake can be windy in the spring, but by summer it is generally very agreeable. Types of Fish: Rainbow, brook, and Apache trout. Some grayling. This eTrail covers the "where, when, and how" to fish in this region. You'll get a full-page map and information on the known hatches, suggested equipment to bring, and the best flies to use."
