Easy to get to and easy to get to know, Lee Valley is the perfect place to introduce a newcomer to the sport of fly fishing. It’s also a good lake to stop by and fish for a couple of hours while touring the White Mountains. My young boys like to stop here and catch six or eight fish in a short time. We don’t have to pump up a boat or put on a lot of gear. Lee Valley Reservoir is on a forested plateau. It’s small enough to walk around in a short time, and has many types of fly fishing water. Coves and points along with the weed banks that grow in midsummer are the best places to fish. The lake has good populations of Apache trout and grayling that like flies. Types of Fish: Grayling and Apache trout. This eTrail covers the "where, when, and how" to fish in this region. You'll get a full-page map and information on the known hatches, suggested equipment to bring, and the best flies to use.
