Although much of this road is paved, it is still a very pleasant backcountry drive, suitable for all types of vehicles in dry weather. It also offers options to those wanting to drive sections of Mexican Border Road as a loop road from either Sierra Vista or Nogales. Combining the Parker Canyon Lake Road with the Mexican Border Road allows for a more leisurely drive. Special Attractions include: Small winding trail through the Canelo Hills; Views of the Santa Rita and Whetstone Mountains; Many pleasant backcountry campsites; Trail is popular with horse riders and mountain bikers. This trail is graded dirt but suitable for a normal passenger vehicle. It usually has gentle grades, is fairly wide, and has very shallow water crossings (if any).
