A long day hike or backpack up the western slope of the Huachuca Mountains. This path zigzags upward through a loose collection of live oak, juniper, and piñon pine. The swards of grass between the trees are punctuated with yuccas and agaves, two desert succulents that do well in the uplands of the Huachucas. As the trail gains altitude, some of the lesser peaks of the Huachuca Range appear to the east.
