This is the only public stream in Arizona where you can land a monster over 25 inches! This stream is stocked several times a year with nice catchable rainbow and Apache trout and occasionally with brood stock from the nearby hatchery. Silver Creek is a true spring creek. Because of its elevation it tends to be extremely silty, making wading almost impossible. The banks are stable, however, and staying out of the water is seldom a problem. There are approximately two miles of riffles, pools, pocket water, and undercut banks. Types of Fish: Apache and rainbow trout. This eTrail covers the "where, when, and how" to fish in this region. You'll get a full-page map and information on the known hatches, suggested equipment to bring, and the best flies to use.

This is a truly excellent place to fish, 5 minutes from Showlow and a 30 minute walk from parking. Not exactly a beautiful area, but the fish are large and plentiful. I've caught the biggest trout I've ever caught on this creek. - but don't tell anyone.
