Wilson Mountain Professional Review and Guide
"This popular trail climbs the south slopes of Wilson Mountain in the Red Rock–Secret Mountain Wilderness. Your reward for the effort is one of the best views of the Sedona area. The Wilson Mountain Trail starts climbing immediately, but then the climb moderates for a bit as the trail goes north through open pinyon-juniper forest. The climb starts in earnest as the trail starts switchbacking up the steep, south-facing slopes. The view opens up as the pigmy forest is replaced by the chaparral brush that favors this sun-baked slope. The trail reaches the First Bench of Wilson Mountain, and continues north to the junction with the North Wilson Mountain Trail. Stay left here, and continue as the trail swings west and climbs onto the summit plateau. At a trail junction in a saddle, turn left and walk 0.4 mile to the south rim of Wilson Mountain. This great spot has a sweeping view of the Sedona area."
