Snoopy Rock

Snoopy Rock Professional Review and Guide

"This hike takes you to a predominant and recognizable red rock formation close to the town of Sedona at the base of the Crimson Cliffs. The distinguished landmark is Snoopy Rock, a likeness to Snoopy the dog from the Peanuts cartoons. From Snoopy Rock are sweeping views of Sedona and its surrounding geologic formations."

This is a pretty hike. If you use a little imagination you can definitely make out Snoopy (and Woodstock). Lucy lingers close by, too. It is kind of adorable. From Snoopy Rock there are gorgeous views of Sedona and all kinds of interesting geologic formations. It is a fairly easy hike with a few climbs but all in all very little elevation change, so I wouldn't consider it strenuous. However, it is pretty poorly marked so it is very easy to lose the trail. I guess I would suggest that you be prepared for the route otherwise you will spend a good deal of time wandering around. An unmarked social trail leaves to the left as you walk south. It is kind of hard to find but if you do you will see that it proceeds up to the belly of Snoopy. Because of the likeness to Peanuts characters it is super fun for the kids to look at. They got such a kick out of it. If you decide not to attempt the trail you can still buy your kids some ice cream and view it from afar, because it is still visible from the town of Sedona.
