Slide Rock State park, located in Oak Creek Canyon, was originally an irrigated, 43-acre apple farm homesteaded by Frank Pendley in 1910. It was purchased by the Arizona State Parks in 1985. Now it is a swimming, sunbathing, fishing, picnicking, recreational area with a nature trail. The swimming area has sloping, sculpted slide rock with pools connected by water chute cascades. This is a popular destination and will be crowded on hot days and weekends.

Fantastic natural "water park." Better than Disney. The kids spent the whole day sliding, jumping, hiking and exploring. And the best part is one small fee get the whole carload in for the day. There is even a snack bar for those that don't bring their own food.
