This ride is 7 miles west of Sedona below the Mogollon Rim. The ride features scenic red rock views, a natural arch, and an ancient ruin. Tread: 17 miles on maintained dirt road. Ride past the Bear Mountain Trailhead on the right (both the Bear Mountain and Fay Canyon trails are in the Red Rock-Secret Mountain Wilderness, which is closed to bikes). The view opens out as you pedal into an open, nearly flat section. The road seems to wander far from the red rocks, but hang in there. Hazards include: rocks, potholes, and ruts on heavily used road. Conditions vary with weather and the amount of recent maintenance.
